Prepare manuscripts for submission according to the guidelines in the Comparative Politics Style Sheet. Manuscripts that exceed 12,000 words will not be considered for review. Please keep in mind that the word count for figures and tables must be estimated separately; refer to our style sheet for details. During the initial submission, you do not need to strictly adhere to the journal’s citation style.
To submit a manuscript, send an electronic version to comppol@gc.cuny.edu. The abstract should be included in the body of the e-mail. Please allow up to two weeks for response. If you do not receive a response within two weeks of submission, please send us a follow-up email.
Comparative Politics welcomes submissions of review articles. Review articles accepted for consideration will be sent to at least one outside referee for evaluation as well as to one or more members of our Editorial Committee. Please refer to our review article Writing Guide.
Electronic versions should be submitted in Microsoft Word or PDF formats and should contain two files:
- Anonymous manuscript (with identifying information removed), with tables and figures in the body of the manuscript. Include title and abstract in the manuscript. The appendix may be included in the same file or separately.
- Title page with the name(s) and affiliation(s) of author(s), and contact information for the corresponding author, including mail and e-mail addresses and a telephone number.
Due to a significant increase in the number of submissions, we are unable to send every submission out for external review.
